The onscreen chemistry between Reese Witherspoon and and Josh Lucas is intense. The fiance Patrick Dempsey is a nice guy too. To have to choose between these two actors and get paid for love scenes must be a real piece of heaven. It is a good romantic story with a few tender and funny moments thrown in. At first Melanie (Witherspoon) isn't a very sympathetic character. You warm up to her after awhile. Her would be mother in law is over played by Candace Bergen with comic results.
