Carpenter's "Halloween" differs from its "Texas Chainsaw" predecessor in being supernatural. Michael Myers has not a single human psychological trait. Leatherface, on the other hand represents the corruption of a decaying family business into cannibalism. In other words, Michael, like his counterpart the archangel, victimizes the young people of a doomed materialist society, middle class suburban life without a conceivable future. The element of last judgement appears, combined with the folklore punisher of youthful misconduct, the bogeyman. Only his saintly sister, Laurie, can possibly alter destiny.
