I thought the movie definitely did the book justice. Dakota Fanning was awesome.

Fabulous movie... I saw it with my 15 year old step-daughter... ironically it was on the same night as Obama's win!!! Go see this movie, you won't regret it, it was the best I've seen in a while! Bring kleenex!

The movie is awesome. I love it and I think everyone should watch it... it just wasn't terrific. Edward kind of scared me with his evil, white, weird, scary face!!! TRY TO SEE IT IF YOU CAN!! [...]

Outstanding performances - a human story told intelligently and in an emotionally evocative way. Dakota Fanning is outstanding, as is the rest of the cast.

I highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys substance in a story, passion in acting, and artful cinematography. A hard story at times that makes us appreciate how far we've come from. But also a story of hope, and beauty in the human spirit whose light can shine upon its darkest corners.

I haven't read the book (yet!) but LOVED the movie. The story is like the analogy of the title -- it's all about the hidden activity that goes on under the surface of people that you don't usually see. If you're looking for action that drives the movie, there is that, but it won't necessarily tell you the deeper story. For that you have to listen and watch with your heart. A story of deep, profound woundedness, healing and liberation, set in the American South when it too was going through a time of the same. May's wall was heart-stopping. Queen Latifah is a goddess. I would like to have seen more of the life story behind Rosaleen. I also wish they had worked the analogy of the bees a bit more. Still a must-see!

Oprah pumped this movie so much so I expected too much from it. I thought it was boring.

I loved it! Acting was great! The only thing I didn't aprove was the rating should have been PG 13.

This movie had wonderful acting. However, the script was not equal to its actors. I was disappointed. It shows how much talent it actually takes to write a good screenplay. The writers often do not receive enough credit.

HI! I was unsure about this movie because it has received mixed reviews. However, I had my parents in town and it was the only choice that made us all happy. Dakota Fanning is exceptional in this film. A true talent. Paul Bettany is unrecognizable as his role as t-ray. I think that Miss Keyes still needs some acting lessons but she was the only weak link. It was very moving and worth the price of admission. Enjoy this story from the 1960's.

Excellent acting for the very young leading actress. Jennifer Hudson was very good as usual although I wanted to see more of her. Alicia surprised me also by her performance. The story is very realistic, beautiful, sad... all emotions are there.

This movie has a wonderful story and the acting by Dakota Fanning was brilliant. Alicia Keys also makes a great acting debut; however, Jennifer Hudson and Queen Latifah are not as good. Overall, it is a must see!

The script closely followed the book - the acting by the entire cast was superlative. Buy your popcorn and and candy, then get comfortable - you will find this movie to be the real treat!

What I love about this movie is that they did not stray to far from the ideas in the book. It was a great movie and I cried, and laughed, and anticipated moments from the book I couldn't wait to see on the screen! I would have made the last scene a little more dramatic but other than that AWESOME!!

It made my 13 year old daughter cry which she never does at a movie. Acting was great, but I was not convinced of the story. It takes place during a time in history that disturbs me and I guess I was just hoping for something a little more uplifting. Could have waited for the DVD.

Amazing! I adore Queen Latifah!!! Jennifer Hudson, Dakota Fanning, Shophie Okonedo, Alicia Keyes ALL totally amazing. Loved the story line and will now read the book!! Just loved it. Probably categorized as a "chick flick" -- in that case I highly recommend it to ALL the chicks!!!

Nothing new in the subject matter. American racial discord in the 1960's and love abandonment. Both subjects suffer from much exposure in our modern day culture. However, enjoyed the constant "cheshire cat" grin of Ms. Queen and observing the dramatic presentation skill of Dakota Fanning. Sound track was interesting. Was a bit staid for my taste. Good mother and teen daughter time together at the movies.

Screen adaptation of the movie was poor despite all around good performances by the actors. Sophie Okonedo, who plays May (one of the sisters), gave an uncanny performance and would deserve an Oscar nod for Best Supporting actress! Dakota Fanning continues to shine and is likely to become the Meryl Streep of her generation. Unfortunately, the movie itself is misdirected.

It brought tears to my eyes and others who came to see the movie. Even men shed tears. It was like I was one of them in the movie there was love and compassion, sorrow and pain but it makes us realize how precious life is and to never judge people by there colour. For love has no colour!!!

Excellent. Makes you laugh, cry - a great movie for the whole family - however, I would suggest that children be at least 13 years of age to truly understand the some of the subject matters of the movie. I read the book first and wasn't disappointment with the movie.

It's one of those movies that you need a box of kleenex on the side, just in case you need to cry. It's a good sad movie, if that makes sense. It's a good movie to own, to curl up in your pj, a warm blanket, a bowl of ice cream with your best girl friends movie.
