60 years after it was almost not released, this movie still holds up as a pitiful reminder of how fragile the human condition is. Majestic and malevelant, Welles hits people time and again with his portrayal of the empty, hollow Kane and his voyage of pathetic grasping. I love this. Who wouldn't? To see it is to know it. Welles was truly a genius, sure, a self-absorbed genius who used people and didn't care about the consequences of his actions, but alas, nothing is perfect. Except memories.
