I know little or nothing about Newfoundland, but this movie has actually interested me in The Rock (and I don't mean the muscle-bound wrestler) Watching this movie stirred all sorts of emotions and mostly, left me feeling emotionally drained, just a leak, not a blow out. The characters were, wow... you could feel for each and every one, well, except Petal (but Cate Blanchett is a great actress) Kevin Spacey and Julianne Moore were great, I love Gordon Pinsent and Jason Behr. I walked out feling like the rocks that the waves batter against, but in a good way. I was thinking that oddly, this could have been called "Life As A House". Almost too many themes for one film, easier to take in a book than a movie. But definitely shows how the human spirit endures.
