Certainly "Attack of the Clones" is an improvement on "The Phantom Menace", but then it would have to be, would it not? Even so it has lots of faults, not the least of which is the length. The pins and needles in my derrier told me I was getting bored half way through, but my interest returned once the villanous Christopher Lee appeared. The romance between Padme and Anakin is necessary in order to produce Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, but it is badly done and practically emotionless. How many girls would like to have their complexions compared to sand? The action in the amphitheatre is very good and here we get the now mandatory glimpse of a teenage belly button, belonging to Nat Portman of course. Hayden Christensen is wooden and is going to be stretched to come up with a convincing performance in his conversion to the evil Darth Vader. Ewan McGregor does very well as the young Obi wan Kenobe. The editing is lumpy and the film does not flow, but jumps from scene to scene and tempo to tempo. I thought some of the Best sets were on the rain planet. Episodes 4, 5, & 6 remain the Best, and episode 3 is going to be a real challenge.
