I did not know what to expect from this film, as my girlfriend chose it and she tends to love period pieces and movies based on real historical events. I found the story moved along well and it was not bogged down with a lot of details on the time, but was more of a love story between the queen and her prince. The cast was great and a moving love story.

This movie was brilliant. The costumes, the characters, the camera view. I'm not a person who knows lots about history, though, so if you're a pain in the ass about details and accuracy, then this might not be a good movie for you. If you want a light but not fluffy historical drama/romance, then it will do more than its job.

Well, I certainly enjoyed the movie from beginning to end. The sets and costumes were magnificent; hardly a poor person in sight. The actors did fine jobs, although in roles that I didn't think were particularly demanding. The romance of Victoria and Albert got lost in the politics surrounding their relationship, something that I appreciated but you may not. It wasn't a sweeping love story, although it should satisfy any princess fantasies you may have. Rupert Friend was dashing as "His Serene Highness Prince Albert," especially when he walks in with a greyhound at each side. The pace of the movie is very slow; lots of dialogue. The scenes switch back and forth between England and Germany and meddliing Uncle Leopold in Belgium; you have to keep attentive. There were all kinds of minor courtiers around. You find yourself asking Who are all these people? Still, I wouldn't have missed seeing it. Warning ladies: Your husbands will hate this movie. They will appreciate me telling you that they should not be dragged to see it. By all means, I encourage you to see it, but with another woman, unless you can dig up another Royal Family history buff like myself.

The movie was really nice. Victoria is very well played by Emily Blunt. It's a must, you shouldn't miss this movie.

I had a problem with the vision of Albert's attitude to Victoria in this movie. I scarcely think he would interrupt her while she proposed, or say," smile, woman". Also, the representation of royalty seemed bourgeois.

An unfortunate collision of good intentions. History although reality sometimes just is boring, no matter who is the lead actor re-enacting a true sequence of events in time. It was probably very exciting time to be her in a trying life... STILL UTTERLY WITHOUT DOUBT boring TO WATCH IN A MOVIE. It was visually tasty and factual as could be, nothing more. Wait for the DVD and experience it at home!

This is an epic masterpiece that shows a true likeness of not only the era, but accurately depicts young queen Victoria herself as it is told by historians. Emily Blunt surprises us all with a brilliant performance, as well as the supportive cast. Wonderful that not all movies are rubbish these days, and that they are still making films with soul.

This is such a beautiful movie, I loved it! One of the best about the monarchy I think. Emily Blunt did a wonderful job portraying Queen Victoria. The costumes as well, were fabulous. I highly recommend this movie for anyone who is interested in the monarchy, and has a soul (obviously not the reviewers giving this a 1 out of 10)

Went into hysterics because of the unbelievable cheese. This movie literally had close-up shots of small dogs cocking their heads sideways so that you can go "awww.". Also sone bizarro freeze frames when characters do something mean. Lead dude does rock a moustache, however, and Emily Blunt looks nice in teal. Only go if you are a design student looking for ideas about ribbon. Or if you think small dogs are hopelessly adorable.

Brilliant. Emily Blunt is the new "it" girl, and Rupert Friend is truly a revelation. A beautiful introduction to true Canadian talent from Jean-Marc Vallée. Blunt is very worthy of her Golden Globe nomination.

Excellent movie... good story, easy to watch. I had been told that there are a few historical inaccuracies, but that didn't matter (and I'm not enough of a history buff to notice any of them, anyhow) I so enjoyed the romance!

Here is yet another great movie about the British Monarchy. Bravo to Emily Blunt for her excellent turn as the Young Queen Victoria. Bravo as well to Quebec's Jean-Marc Vallée for directing this great biopic! There's nothing like time-travelling to the past and seeing how things were back then, and also realizing that politics and royalty may not have changed so much over the years after all!!! 8/10, great movie, don't miss it if you like classic period pieces!!!

Sounds like the producers of Avatar are commenting on this movie! Avatar better than Young Victoria? Sure if you don't want to use your brain and have a great script and great acting. Avatar is for, well, men. No need to think; just look at the visual effects. Emily Blunt gives another terrific performance showing the real side of a very young Queen.

Emily Blunt--with great acting! The scenery as well as the costumes were worthwhile to see-- a touching story about the life and hardships as well as the true love of the Queen Victoria in her early life--not for all to see!

Oh my gosh this has to be my favorite movie this year! The acting and overall story are just outstanding. Emily Blunt did a marvelous job in this movie I have no doubt shell become one great and respected actress. Jean-marc vallee showed his immense talent once again. Great to have our people show we can also produce pieces of art! Costumes are also amazing. Gaaah I want to see it again.

Can you say fairytale? Why not tell the real story of the monarchy? They are about as useless as it gets.

These one ratings are absolutely absurd. The acting was terrific, regardless of how romanticized the story was. I went in expecting little, and came out astonished. Emily Blunt did a magnificent job.

This is an extremely well done movie. The 'wording' shown from time to time gave explanations about the history and the way things happened, so, it gave the viewer all the background quickly without dragging out the film The costuming was gorgeous. The acting by all was excellent and there was great chemistry between the characters to make it feel believable. The character of Victoria was very interesting and it showed how 'individualism' actualized despite the political manipulations of the day. It was charming, breathtakingly beautiful and moved at a great pace.

Definitely a lavish production and well acted but if you already know the story of Victoria and Albert there is nothing here to surprise you. Nevertheless it is reasonably accurate and entertaining. Paul Bettany is a particular standout as Lord Melbourne.

I loved every minute of this movie. Quite an achievement for J. -P. Vallée in a remarkable cast personification. British pomp and circumstance, movie is enhanced with subtle intrigue which is common to British diplomacy world-wide. Emily Blunt is a dignified young queen and the role suited her at best. Rupert Friend (Albert) personified his character extremely well. Would see this movie again. Great entertainment.

I saw this movie at the TIFF closing gala. Well worth seeing. It has a fresh and playful feel. Very well acted in all roles. Great look and production design. Entertaining even to those who may not enjoy this type of 'period piece'. Emily Blunt carries the lead role all the way through. More like a 7.8-8.2 rating.
