There is not one redeeming second in this film. I would have walked out if I was not with someone. I have never hated a movie so much. I can truly say that I don't want to know anyone personally who liked this film. In fact, I would probably disinherit my own mother if she liked this film. I would shoot my dog if he liked this film. By this point you probably think I am exagerating a little. I don't care, I hated this movie. The only other movie I have ever hated wholeheartedly was Forest Gump, and I would still give it at least a four. Okay, you have just found out the white ex-prison gaurd you are dating pulled the switch on your husband and the father of your child, a black man. Instead of getting mad you praise the night in shining armour from saving your poor black ass; Disgusting, mishandling of the melodrama of genre. I can handle boring old political incorrectness, but this film is devious... Ok, steam is coming out of my ears now. Ebert you should rot in hell for getting people interested in this movie. Your former colleague Siskel was always the real film critic anyway and he is probably rolling in his grave.
