The Importance of a film like this is the language, it is enchanting. Wilde had a style unlike any other, in writing and life, obviously, it shows in his work. The casting was impeccable and I laughed so much my sides hurt. Colin Firth (aka the most gorgeous man on the entire planet) was splendiferous to the extreme - witty, charming, perfect in every way. He even sings. Sigh. Of course, I will have to see it again several times to give you a more accurate review, no, no, I must, I want to be thorough. Judi Dench was superb, is she ever anything but? Reese Witherspoon was delightful as the fanciful young ward. Rupert Everett does what he does best, the adorable scoundrel. Loved the 'looks' and remarks from the various servants. This is art and entertainment in a most tasty treat for the eyes and ears. Frankly, who could ask for anything more? Not I. My otherwise lackluster day was filled to the brim with Colin and Wilde's wit, a dashing combination, to be sure. Brava. Brava.
