I really enjoyed this movie, and was entertained. It has interesting characters, great on screen dialogue and interaction, and an interesting ending that makes it all worthwhile.

Much God! Sitting through this movie was pure hell. I watched it to satisfy my boyfriend's love of the Cohen Brothers Genre. Hated every second of it. Tom Hanks must of been drunk when he agreed to take on this project. The only bright light in the movie is the elderly black lady.

Awful, awful, awful. I usually watch any film with Tom Hanks without checking the review out. Never again. Terrible concept, awful acting, long, tedious film which is lacking in all aspects. Stay away if your IQ is bigger than your shoe size.

Can't understand anything anyone is saying. This is the slowest moving, worst movie I have ever seen. [...] Stupid, inane and each actor while great individually makes each other look ridiculous in there over achieving efforts at comedy. This sucked more than the champion at a lemon eating contest.

Impossible to understand the accent, language, or humor in the movie. They should have included sub-titles just we can all understand what the Hanks and Wayans characters were saying. The people who voted higher than a 1 for this movie should NEVER be asked for their opinion. It's truly incredible that anyone could even sit through this entire movie without becoming so agitated that you just want to scream out loud. This movie is so bad that I'm convinced that the people that voted more than a 1 are probably related to either to the directors, actors, distributors, or anyone associated with this movie. If anyone ever recommends you watch this movie then they're probably your enemy [...]

Movie had the potential to be great. But Tom Hanks dialogue ran on too much to the point that I became bored. Lots of funny scenes but then became ridicules.

This is a good movie, I don't know why so many people are tough on it. I did find one thing. It was tough for me to follow the diverse heavy accents used. Over acting? If it were all one dialect you would get use to it. But a deep south white educated gentleman talking followed by black ghetto slang and southern black gospel slang and more.

A very funny movie. Tom Hanks was hilarious. The lady upstairs stole the show. The guy who also plays J Jonah Jameson in the Spiderman movie was hilarious: "Easiest thing in the world." It was basically what I expected from a Coen Bros movie ie. Something unexpected. Tons of great little touches that I think go over most peoples' heads. If you love movies, you'll love this. Now Im goingg to ggo rent the origginal Ladykillers cause thats supposed to be very good too. Flames in 9!

One of the most clever and entertaining movies I've seen in a long time. I could have used a little less bad language, though. That's the only thing that keeps me from giving it a 10.

If you ever get an opportunity to rent the original 'The Ladykillers' with Alec Guinness, Herbert Lom, etc... do so - you won't regret it. A wonderful, outstanding, hilarious comedy; this Hanks version is nothing more than a pale, shallow parody and isn't worth the money you'd pay to sit through it. Some things should be left well alone, you cannot improve on the best.

First of all, everyone who wrote that it was bad, you are entitled to your opinion, but I think you missed the merits of this film. The Coen brothers are simply geniuses and their use of the camera, the images they use, (the garbage boat... the introduction to the football idiot's character, to name a few)their choice of music and colorful characters are so original and unparalleled that I do NOT understand your complaints. Tom Hanks delivers a powerful performance and his poetical renditions of Edgar Allan Poe's "Helen" had me and my friend in a trance; he was that great. The old lady is a fantastic actress and she was so believable. The church music is SO appropriate, because it deals with the woman's faith and her strong Christian beliefs, that ultimately save her in the end. I laugh out loud the whole way through and I am very critical of films, so I do not laugh at just anything. I think this film was wonderful and the next day I bought the awesome soundtrack. A real gem and a Coen success! You gotta see this one!

I also walked out of this movie. Stereotype acting, lame script. The gospel singing is great but it looks out of place and had no point. Corny Tom Hanks character. I think we should sue for our time we spent in the theater. Don't even rent this stinker.

What a waste of the Coen brothers unlimited talent. A complete and utter disappointment. Without the charm of Oh Brother Where Art Thou? , or the dark humour of Fargo, the Ladykillers was a complete waste of film. The dialogue was at best mediocre, although there were a few good jokes in Hank's character, it was delivered terribly. The best part of this entire movie was Mrs. Munson, she was entirely too great. The best part of the whole movie is when she finds the Professor under the bed. Too bad, it could have been great.

[...] This movie was not made to entertain the masses and as such does not have the draws that most Hollywood movies have these days. Its witty and hilarious, Tom Hanks is amazing. [...] to all who thought there was too much bad language, most Hollywood movies have WAY more, so relax. Thanks These are my opinions, not yours.

I found this film pretty good, but not excellent. It has a fair bit of 'Coen' feel to it, some funny (sometimes over the top) characters, and some great gospel music - but it's not the best of the Coen brothers. It's entertaining but seems to be missing something substantive. Or perhpas the opposite; maybe it's missing more subtleties. In any event it's more like Coen lite. I think the Coen brothers in general create a type of film that you either enjoy or you just don't like at all, and the best of their movies will have people who rate them very low, so I would keep that in mind when reading the other comments. If you're a Coen fan you'll enjoy this movie, but you won't be talking about the subtle details later on over dinner.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. It's not even worth renting. I was so disappointed to see that Tom Hanks, who is a great actor nonetheless, choose such a tasteless and 'unfunny' movie. It was horribly boring (especially regarding the poor character development) and contained far too much gratuitous foul language. I was really uncomfortable with the movie, in general, so I left after an hour, which I'd never done before. I hope Tom Hanks does better next time.

A movie that you may feel bored at the beginning, but it becomes more and more interesting by the personality of each person. It's a simple story with lots of irony results. It's a movie that is quite interesting and different than others! Worth to see it~.

Hey folks-first off this is a Cohen Bros. movie - opinions don't matter, reviews don't matter. If you have to go for yourself. The Cohen's do not write/direct to meet Hollywood expectations or for commercial value. This is art! Like it, love it, hate it - whatever but you will be affected.

Wow, horrid. Easily one of the worst movies I have seen in months. Dull, weak, Boring and lacking of any wit what-so-ever. I'm not a Hanks fan but this is just plain sad on his part. Unless you're an older person who just loves Hanks and movies of this sort you will most likely enjoy the sticky floor more than the movie. Don't waste your coin on this flop. Note: Read the ratings, please don't complain about swearing when the warning tells you to be aware.
