Casting Jim Carrey as Count Olaf was brilliant. He made this movie. Other than that the movie was like the books. While the idea of having the heroes suffer calamity after calamity seems novel, a word which here means new and interesting, after reading three books with no character development whatsoever it proved to be tedious, a word which here means BORING. The movie was ok, but I wasn't left wanting any more at the time it ended.
